14. Krianne McBride - Leander Home School

Leander Texas Home School's Krianne McBride caught a lot of people off guard when she hit the scene last year. That's hard to believe considering she is one of the most well known youth track and field stars on the national club level. McBride started her season off well for a young athlete running against older and stronger girls when she dropped a 19:09 for second place at the St. Andrews Inv. An 18:14 3 mile the next week at Cedar Park proved she wasn't just a fluke. With only a few meets available for her to run throughout the season, making the most of things in each race was important for her and she took advantage of that. She ran an impressive 17:57 at McNeil for a 15th place finish. At the Home School state meet, she only managed to finish third on a rainy, muddy, and poor conditioned course, perhaps losing to stronger and more experienced runners. The true test for McBride was her ability to bounce back after the state meet for NXR South. There, she recovered as she ran 18:56 for 13th place. Track season is where she shined as she ran for 2:11, 4:39 (1500m), 5:04, and 10:54 PRs that showed her versatility. She also won the 3,000m at the AAU Junior Olympic Games a few weeks ago in 10:21 showing that her fitness is there. If she can manage the transition from the summer to the fall season we could see outstanding things from this young athlete. She is high school age now and will be a lot stronger and more experienced this season
