San Antonio Churchill Sophomore Isaiah Garcia signed his post race interview with us. With the assistance of his interpreter, the hearing impaired runner let us into his thoughts on the first sub 16 minute race of his career.
Garcia ran to a 15:59 PR and a 6th place finish at the San Antonio ISD meet. "I was just patient, I pushed hard - you know? And that was my thing" he told us. He also mentioned his team as well, "I guess you know, I'm gonna improve - and we're gonna go to the top."
With championship season approaching, Garcia has a good opportunity to qualify for his first state meet. The Churchill sophomore now ranks the 16th in Region 4-6A and has the 14th best time in the state for sophomore boys.
