4A Girls
The team champions from last year will repeat once again. Celina looks strong and they have a legit low stick runner.
The excitement in this race will be for second. It's between Paris North Lamar, Pittsburg, Sunnyvale, and Anna. Yes, if you counted that is four teams battling for three available positions and it's possible less than 15 points could decide between the four teams who gets the last three qualifying positions.
Here are the girls top four team finishes:
1. Celina
2. Pittsburg
3. Sunnyvale
4. Anna
Individually, Adele Clarke will be looking to defend her regional title. She has been on a roll this season collecting wins and fast times. She displayed her speed last year on the track in the 800m and the 1600m. She will get a challenge from Lily Jacobs who is a legit star. Jacobs was the runner-up at last year's region race and really had a good track season finishing second in the 3200m at the state track meet.
These two will have an exciting battle as they swapped spots at the state meet last year with Jacobs finishing sixth and Clarke 7th. Buckle up and have a blast!
4A Boys
River Oaks Castleberry comes over from Region 1 and will look to take the title this year. We've known their girls to run extremely well, now the boys want a regional title and they very well could get it. They will bring a sub 17 minute average in with a sub one minute split and that will make the hard to beat.
That is about the only given in the boys team race. There will be several teams fighting for the next three spots. Melissa, Celina, Sanger, Longview Spring Hill, Gainesville, and Nevada Community, will al hope the running for the next three qualifying spots.
Here are the Boys top four team finishes:
1. River Oaks Castleberry
2. Melissa
3. Longview Spring Hill
4. Sanger
Individually, this will be all Judson Greer. He is the defending regional and state champ and is just on a monster like level this year. However, there are some other big time runners in the region. Kalen Barlow will look to lead his team to state and his performance will be a huge in them doing so. Gavin Frick is going through his first Texas championship season. He just committed to Kennesaw State University and can focus strictly on running now. Like the other guys, Said Morua is a sub 16 minute guy and will in the chase pack.
