Top 7 Moments From The UIL State Meet

1. Miller Grove Wins Both Team Titles And Individual Titles

This will be a memorable moment for the Miller Grove program as well as the UIL. They did something only one other program has ever done before.

They started the 2019 state meet off by winning the girls team title as well as getting the individual win. Jorja Bessonett dominated the race, taking home the win in 11:58.38 by almost 20 seconds. The rest of her squad was hungry too and they were also trying to win another state title. Along with Bessonett's contribution, they were able to hammer home the team win by placing two in the Top 10 and totaling only 54 points.

The next race on the course was the 1A Boys and Miller Grove proved they weren't done for the day. The boys were just as impressive as the girls as they ran to the first two finishers in the race with Isaiah Billingsley and Kobe Robertson. Their teammates also did their job to seal the deal on another state championship.

The race was extremely close with only a three point separation. Yet, their win sealed the deal for Coach Gary Billingsley's program enabling them to take home all major wins for the day that they could have desired.

Only the 2016 Sundown program was able to precede Miller Grove in doing. Sundown won the 2016 2A girls and boys team championships. Andrea Sanchez and Steven Quintanilla both took won their respective races.
