Top 7 Moments From The UIL State Meet

2. Southlake Carroll Wins Both 6A Team Titles

We have seen one team win both championships before, and we have seen it done  before at Southlake Carroll. However, this was the first time in 6A and possibly the best overall performance by a girls and boys team ever.

The Carroll girls won their championship with a very solid effort. They placed two girls in the Top 10 with Jenna Holland's 7th place finish and Katherine Mcelaney's 9th place finish. The team only totaled 45 points with team scoring positions of 5, 7, 10, 11, and 12. Who does that at the state meet? Well, their 18:07 team average and their 24 second split shows how dominating of a performance it was and how good this team is.

The Dragons weren't quite done. While the girls were crossing the finish line, the boys were feet away on the starting in their line box getting ready to embark upon a huge task of winning a state title of their own.

Their mission was successful. Junior, Solomon Chavez (9th place) led his squad to the top of the podium, a place that had alluded them for four years. The Carroll boys ran a great race going for a 15:22 team average and a 26 second split.

Coach Justin Leonard's teams had an outstanding and successful day.
