The post season roller coaster continues for Texas athletes.
Nike has extended invitations to two girls from Texas. Leander Texas Home School's Krianne McBride and Katy Cinco Ranch's Heidi Nielson have both been extended invites from the Nike committee and will represent the South Team should they accept.
McBride is the 2019 Home School state champion and finished seventh at NXR South last weekend. Her position was the sixth individual, just missing qualifying for NXN by one spot.
Nielson competed at NXR South as well. That was her first meet since her 18:18.40 at the Nike South Invitational on October 4, 2019. Nielson had to miss the entire Texas UIL championship season due to injury.
Both runners have national experience. McBride has four AAU Junior Olympic championships and several runner-up and third place finishes from 800m to 3,000m.
Last year, Nielson ran on the USA U20 World XC Championship team and made the U20 Pan American team.
