Sophomore Girls Sophomore Girls 2019 XC Team

The MileSplit California 2019 All-State Sophomore Girls Cross Country team is based on finish at the State Meet within the class. Combined time rankings and other top performances are considered for second team and honorable mention placement and inclusion.

FIRST TEAM

Athletes are listed alphabetically



Won her second State Division III title while running 17:16.00, the No. 2 time in the class at the meet. It's also the No. 3 clocking all-time in D-III. She is a two-time Sac-Joaquin Section D-III champion and two-time NXN invitee. Ranks third in the class in combined 3-mile/5000-meter times.

Dalia Frias, Mira Costa (SS) 



Placed third in the Division I race at the State Meet, running 17:38.40, the No. 3 time in the class at the meet. Placed second in the D2 race at the Southern Section Finals (17:29.40) and was the No. 5 sophomore girl in the SS merge. Placed eighth at Foot Locker West Regional and ran at the Foot Locker National Championships. 

Emma Hadley, Anaheim Canyon (SS)



Placed 10th in the Division II race at the State Meet, running 17:56.70 as the No. 7 fastest time in the class at the meet. Also placed 10th in the Southern Section D2 final as the No. 4 sophomore. Also the No. 4 sophomore in the SS merge. 



Placed fourth in the Division II race at the State Meet, running 17:39.70, the No. 4 time in the class at the meet. Placed second to Alexandra Klos in the D-II race at the Sac-Joaquin Section Championships (18:26.40). That time ranked second in the SJS merge between Klos and Riley Chamberlain. Qualified for the the Foot Locker National Championships. 

Alexandra Klos, Vista del Lago (SJ) 



State Division II champion after running 17:13.10, the top time at the meet for girls in the class of 2022 and the No. 6 clocking in D-II history. First year running XC. Beat Riley Chamberlain for the title at Capital Cross (17:20.70), ran a close second to senior Corie Smith at Clovis while posting her 5K PR (16:57.00), beat Cate Joaquin by 54.60 seconds for the SJS title, won the State title by 21.90 seconds, and ran at NXN, placing 28th overall and No. 3 girl from CA. She does not have a 3-mile time and will not appear in the 3M/5K combined rankings.

Sam McDonnellNewbury Park (SS)



Placed ninth in the Division II race at the State Meet, running 17:56.40 while running No. 1 as Newbury Park won the D-II team title. She was the No. 3 sophomore in that race and her time ranked sixth in the class at the meet. She placed eighth in the merge from the Southern Section Finals and No. 3 sophomore. Ran at NXN.


Perez (178 in the photo) placed seventh in the Division I race at the State Meet, running 17:49.00, the No. 5 time among sophomore girls at the meet. Placed fifth in the Central Section Final (18:24.08) as the No. 1 sophomore girl in the CS merge. 


SECOND TEAM

SOFIA ABREGOGranada Hills Charter (LA) -- Placed 22nd in the Division I race at the State Meet running 18:12.10. Her time ranked 13th among sophomore girls at the meet. Won her second consecutive Los Angeles City Section title. Placed fifth at Foot Locker West and ran at the Foot Locker National Championships.

MADDIE COLESClaremont (SS) -- Placed 22nd in the Division II race at the State Meet running 18:13.40, the No. 14 time among sophomore girls at the meet. She placed seventh in the Southern Section D2 race (17:16.3) and also seventh in the merge and No. 2 among sophomores. 

ISABELLA DUARTESaugus (SS) -- Placed 17th in the Division I race at the State Meet, running 18:06.70, the No. 11 time among sophomore girls at the meet. She placed eighth in the Southern Section Division 1 final (17:39.1), which ranked second in the class in that race and sixth among 2022 girls in the SS merge.

TIANI GOESONSerrano (SS) -- Placed 13th in the Division II race at the State Meet, running 17:59.50, the No. 8 time in the class of 2022. Placed fourth in the Southern Section D2 race (17:08.9) as both the top sophomore in the division and in the overall SS merge.

MACKENZIE ROGERSPoway (SD) -- Placed 19th in the Division II race at the State Meet, running 18:08.50, the No. 12 time among sophomore girls on he 5K Woodward Park course that day. Placed third in the D2 race at the SDS Final and ranks as the No. 3 sophomore in the SDS merge.

STORMY WALLACESage Creek (SD) -- Place sixth in the Division IV race at the State Meet while helping Sage Creek to a second consecutive State D-IV title. Her time of 18:04.50 is the 10th fastest among sophomore girls at the State Meet. She placed second in the SDS Final, 18:00.90, the second-fastest sophomore at the meet.

NAVAYA ZALESMt. Carmel (SD) -- Placed 15th in the Division II race at the State Meet, running 18:04.30, the No. 9 time among sophomore girls on the Woodward Park 5K course that day. She placed second in the SDS D2 Final, running 17:45.30 over the 3-mile Morley Field course, the No. 1 time among SDS sophomores.
