Dallas Boys Brought Relay Speed To Lancaster Meet of Champs

Lancaster wins the Varsity boys 4x100 Relay in TX No. 1 40.65

Perennially, Texas is home to some of the best sprints in track and field; Dallas, is a big part of that. Over the weekend, the Lancaster Meet of Champions put that speed on display.

The home team's boys squad was one of the teams taking advantage of some of the improved weather conditions. Lancaster's boys posted the fastest 4x100 Relay time in the state and nationally in the short outdoor season.

The Tigers got a good start from their first leg and a solid exchange. They were in a heated two team battle all of the way through 350m of the race. That is when the anchor leg took off and solidified the 40.65 win and No. 1 ranking.

However, there was more than just Lancaster in that race. North Crowley, who had already proven themselves this season buy running fast times this season was squarely in the mix until the last 50 meters. The anchor leg wasn't able to hold the momentum, falling back to a fourth place finish.

Cedar Hill, who emphatically believes in their speed was in the race throughout and mounted a strong runner-up finish for the second fastest time nationally in 40.93 with the Duncanville Panthers also there for third and now a No. 3 national ranking of 40.94.

Even though North Crowley faded to fourth in the 4x100 Relay, they were still able to run to a 41.04 SB and good for the fifth fastest time both in Texas and nationally.

They were able to bounce back in the 4x200 Relay to get the win in a slim margin. That race had they hype built and the South Dallas bragging rights to boast. North Crowley crossed the line in 1:26.11 to squeak out a win over Duncanville who finished in 1:26.16, and Cedar Hill in third in 1:26.97.
