UPDATE: Coronavirus' Impact On The 2020 Track Season


The education and learning of the COVID-19 is an ongoing process and the threat of further spreading of the virus is a fear across the globe; it has inevitably affected and halted the 2020 track and field season.

Several meets this weekend have been cancelled and others to come in the following weeks have been suspended. School districts throughout the state of Texas are meeting to make decisions concerning the future of the school year and athletic seasons.

Here is an updated look at the current decision status on the 2020 track and field status from the major leagues in Texas.


UIL

The UIL has now updated their stand on the Coronavirus and athletic competition. As of Friday March 13 at  the University Interscholastic League (UIL) has suspended all UIL sanctioned athletic events in Texas effective March 16th through March 29th.  Related: UIL updates



TAPPS

The Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools (TAPPS) will currently proceed without limitation if the school is in session. If a school in the league closes for COVID-19 related issues then the events will  be postponed. Otherwise, the schools have individual say so on whether to restrict travel or competition and can postpone events.

SPC

The Southwest Preparatory Conference (SPC) will cancel SPC events from March 25th and April 13th. They will monitor conditions throughout the period and update if additional cancellations become necessary due to unfolding circumstances. Related: SPC Updates
