Girls Drop Big 1600m Marks At Alamo City Mile And Steeple

The Alamo City Mile And Steeple is set up for highly competitive races and enabling athletes to run fast and get SBs and PRs.

That's exactly what it produced for many girls last night. We saw many SB and PR performances, which led to some rearranging of the 2020 girls 1600m rankings.

We saw four girls go sub 5:00 including two sub 4:50s by the Katy Cinco Ranch duo of juniors Heidi Nielson (4:47.90) and Sophie Atkinson (4:48.95). Also joining them under 5:00 were San Antonio FEAST's Lauren Bettencourt (4:55.08) and Anastacia "Chachi" Gonzales (4:55.59).

Nielson assumes the TX No.1 with Atkinson right behind at No.2. Bettancourt and Gonzales take the No. 5 and No. 6 rankings. All four girls also land in the top 10 nationally with their races from last night.

Watch the races with the new season bests from the top girl's races last night.
