Rewatch 2019 Girls UIL 4A State Meet Relays

Liberty-Eylau's anchor leg powers home to a win and state meet record int he 4x200 Relay

Last year, the UIL 4A Girls team championship was a good one. Luckily, for us, we have the race videos to prove it.

We have grown accustomed to watching the girls from "The D" challenge for the top spot in the last couple of years. The Dallas Carter girls have been on fire the last couple of years and they took the 2018 title home the previous year.

Their nemesis has been the East Texas girls from Texarkana. Liberty-Eylau has developed into quite the rivalry worthy of the price of admission year after year.

However, the girls from the West side of the state came to Austin with intentions of their own. The best girls track team in the Panhandle, Canyon had a team full of girls from the sprints to the distances and form the hurdles to the field who had one mission -- to win a state championship.

Canyon was able to do exactly that. They scored points in many ways and they needed them. They won the team title with an 86 point total just over Liberty-Eylau's 72 point total. They were clearly the top two 4A girls teams last year, but there was a lot of quality and depth as well. The fight for the third place trophy was close!

Seven points separated four teams. Waxahachie Life scored 39 points to take home the third place trophy just ahead of fourth place Dallas Carter (34), Kennedale (33), with Huntington and Melissa finishing in a tie for sixth place with 32 points.

Here are the sprint relay races showing the top teams battling it out for 2019.

Girls 4x100 Relay

The Dallas Carter - Liberty Eylau battle has grown into a real rivalry. The coaches and teams attend one another's meets to be sure to measure up their adversary. While going through one another can mean the difference of winning a state title or not, The rivalry is friendly, but don't get it confused to not have it's high competitive edge.

Carter was set out to prove they were more than just a get the stick to Sha'Carri Richardson and let her win it type of team as they won two in a row with her. They won the third without her with the 2019 win, but it was close!
