Six weeks ago, the New Balance Nationals had to cancel their Indoor Nationals event thanks to COVID-19. The outdoor season never got started for much of the country, and there was a high percentage that their outdoor meet would be canceled as well.
It turns out that might not be the case. In fact, the NBNO has has modified their relay entry standards for the 20120 season.
That modification includes All-Star relays. Usually, the relay event requirement was for all athletes to be from the same school. That alone meant All-Star type of relays from Texas teams, but now a team can be made up from anyone from anywhere, including club teams.
New Balance Outdoor Nationals 2020 Standards
With most states canceling state meet and no considerable consequential races, this could bring some pizzaz and excitement to the sport for the 2020 season.
The relays to be contested are:
- 4x100m
- 4x400m
- 4x800m
- 800m Medley
- Swedish Medley
- 1600m Medley
