UIL Modified COVID-19 Calendar And Guidelines


Today, the UIL released it's updated COVID-19 fall sports guidelines (UIL Press Release). As the UIL leaders continue to monitor local, state, and federal legislature they attempt to fairly meet the unprecedented daily and weekly changing guidelines.

To meet the recent updates, there are some legendary changes updates for the 2020 cross country season that will have some effects on teams and classes.

The first day of practices have already been approved for cross country as long as they follow the strength and conditioning guidelines already set in place.

The updates that will affect the season is the first day of meets. Classes 1A - 4A can begin participating in cross country meets on August 17th. Classes 5A and 6A can begin on September 7th, which is on the  Labor Day holiday.

Not only have the start dates been pushed back, the district championships through the state championships have been reassigned dates. The UIL state cross country meet is typically the first or second week of November. Now, district certification deadline is November 14th with the state meet scheduled for December 5th, 2020.
