Panhandle Girls To Watch For This Cross Country Season

Ariyah Gomez - Canyon Randall

Gomez used to be one of Coach James' babies who were up and coming.

Now, she is an upperclassman who already used her freshman and sophomore years to come up. She's a state meet qualifier in both track and cross country and looks to make this upcoming season her best.

Last year, her only not top 10 finish was a 22nd outing at the UIL 5A state meet  where she PRed going 18:32.60. On her way there, she fifth at the Waxahachie Woodhouse Invitational, second at the Amarillo ISD Invitational Cross Country Meet, second at UIL 5A - District 3, and third at the UIL Region 1 XC Championships.

Gomez led Randall back to the state meet last year, but this season they've got to be thinking about getting back on the podium and Gomez' performances and leadership will be key. Look forward to seeing a lot of her leading in the Panhandle and in the state.
