Meet Preview: Region 4 Cross Country Championships

Taylor Grona medaled at the 2020 UIL 3A XC state meet

Class 4A

Taylor Grona (Fredericksburg) - 11:38 and Liana Navarro (La Feria) - 11:44 are the top two returners from last year's race. Grona is the defending champion and checks in as the top performer so far this year.

Fredericksburg is having a good team season as they have good shot at getting to state. Their 12:35 average and 1:19 team average gives them the heads up over the rest of the region.

Running well all season long is La Feria; they also have a solid team average and split at 12:42 and 1:25.

Additionally, Needville, Sinton, and Pleasanton have opportunities to qualify to state.

The boys 4-4A race will be interesting. Julian Dominguez (La Feria) has a 16:09 time from district, but has been a 16 high and 17 low runner most of the season. That puts him right in the alley with five other guys who are in that same area.

We'll see if the guys can run well despite the conditions they'll face and put on the show it looks like is coming.

La Feria looks like they are are ready to capitalize on missing out last year due to only three qualifiers going to state. Based on the season stats, they should be in the driver's seat in Corpus Christi.

Bandera did qualify last year and looks like they're on their way back. They have a 17:28 team average and 1:26 split.

Boerne, La Vernia, Needville, and Alice all have good chances to also grab a qualifying spot.
