TAPPS 4A Preview

TAPPS 4A Girls

Last year, a talented freshman Emily Smith (Colleyville Covenant Christian) took the state by storm. She would go on to win the TAPPS 4A championship with a 11:28. Smith is back and she has the second fastest time heading into the meet with her 12:41 SB.

However, it's another freshman who has the top time and seed going into the state meet. Charlotte Freeman (The Woodlands Legacy Christian) who is ranked No. 1. Her sister ran to a sixth place finish last year and she wants to come in grabbing a state title in year one.

It will be a tough race with several girls able to challenge. Right behind Smith's seed is Maeve Sullivan (Schertz St. John Paul II) who was fourth last year, Gracee Whiteaker (Willow Park Trinity Christian), and Tayley Bullen (Lubbock Trinity Christian) who are all within seconds on one another.

They have a 13:31 team average, but Dallas Christo Rey isn't too far behind with a 13:46 team average.

TAPPS 4A Boys

William Peters (Dallas Covenant) has got to be the favorite in the 4A boys race. The two time individual champ has title number three in his sights. He PRed at the beginning of the month by going at the Jesuit XC Classic.

Last year's runner-up Luke Mason (Suarland Logos Preparatory) is also rolling with a 15:48 of his own this season.

Covenant ran away with last year's title and could add another. However, it might not be as easy as last year's 58 point margin of victory.

Houston St. Thomas, and Sugarland Logos Prep, and The Woodlands Legacy Christian should make things interesting.
