Sang Finishes 4th Earns All-American

EVANSVILLE, Ind. - After missing the National Meet last year Amos Sang returned to earn All-American status as he finished fourth at the NCAA Division II National Championships on the campus of Southern Indiana Saturday afternoon.

It was a tight finish on Saturday afternoon as the top four spots were only separated by 11 seconds. Sang ran the 10k course in 30:48.0 giving him a fourth place finish and All-American honors.

Adams State won their second consecutive National Title as Ruben Mwei picked up the individual title for the Grizzles. Daniel Kirwa from Harding finished second. Kirwa finished one spot ahead of Sang earlier in the season as he and the Bison took home both titles in the SIU Pre-National Invitational in September.

Sang who was a member of the 2007 National Championship team for the Wildcats was determined to return to the National Meet after placing 21st last year in the South Central Regional. The only four-time National Champion in NCAA history, Nicodemus Naimadu, had helped Sang train all season as he recorded two first place finishes including the title at the NCAA South Central Regional.

Missouri Southern who won the South Central Regional on ACU's home course two weeks ago finished 11th. Other teams from the regional were Southwest Baptist finishing 15th and Pittsburg State at No. 18.
