Coach Shelton Ervin recently led Humble Summer Creek to a second consecutive UIL 6A state track and field championship.
Now, he and the Texas Track and Field Coaches Association (TTFCA) are focused on leading the state of high school track and field in Texas into a new era.
The UIL legislation period where they look at rules and the overall status of sports comes up in a couple of weeks and Ervin will represent on behalf of the coaches association in front of the UIL board.
Ervin would like to pass a couple of issues that would progress the sport of track and field. Some of the topics on his docket to discuss are eight place scoring at the UIL state meet, adding an additional distance event, and possibly the javelin.
He would like to hear from you (high school track and field coaches) to get your thoughts and suggestions on how he can best represent you in the upcoming legislation meeting.
