The Texas outdoor track and field season is heading down the home stretch and heading towards the end of the line. We are building our staff up for the 2022 cross country season.
We are looking for writers, videographers, photographers, and social media savants to help us promote the athletes from our state!
Although we need videographers and photographers, we are really interested in writers who have knowledge of the sport or Texas high school programs (SPC, TAPPS, UIL) to help us preview and create editorial content for the site.
If you are a coach and (or) teacher at a school and your school has a photo/video, journalism, or yearbook staff, put us in touch with the class instructor. The students in the classes could be MileSplit representatives for your area.
We are especially in need of representatives in the following locations:
- Abilene Region
- Amarillo/Panhandle Region
- Austin Region
- Bryan/College Station Region
- Corpus Christi Region
- Dallas/Fort Worth Region
- East Texas Region
- Houston/Galveston Region
- Lubbock Region
- Rio Grande Valley/South Texas Region
- San Antonio Region
- SPC Conference
- TAPPS Conference
Our open positions are paid via an event-by-event basis and your responsibilities could include:
- written features, previews, recaps, athlete Q&A's, and more
- race footage
- acquisition of photo content
- post-race interviews with athletes
The needs noted above will be discussed in more detail with the successful applicants directly by our state site editor.
If you're interested in becoming a contributor for MileSplit Texas , please contact William Grundy and include information relating to your experiences with videography, photography, and writing. Also please include your schedule of when you would be available to attend meets on our behalf, as well as any questions about the position that you may have.
Prior to contacting us, please remember that you must have the following equipment depending on what type of contributor role you are seeking:
- computer to write and edit articles
- internet access
- access to videography and photography equipment (we do not provide devices)
- an ability to quickly apply the material that you acquire at meets to our site (same day is preferred)
- accessibility to attend meets on Saturday morning's (when the majority of big meets take place)
