Region 3 Preview

The top two runners in this region coming back from last year had great track seasons. Coming off of her 3200 state championship senior Kaylee Bezio of Graford and senior Sydney Partin of Priddy who qualified for the state track meet in the 800m, 1600m, and the 3200m, will be looking for their first individual regional cross country title.

Chasing those two will be Dodd City senior Lindsey Mauppin, sophomores Rylie Eckert of Rochelle and Kristin Burkett of Avery. There is also a freshmen from Miller Grove, Shaylee Stracener who will have something to say when it comes to crowning the regional champion.

Looking at the top teams coming back in the region things could get interesting considering no team dominated last year. Priddy returns four of their top five in Partin, junior Lindsey Grelle, sophomore Karissa Seider, and senior Mackenzie Morgan.

Slidell Lady Hounds return six from last years regional runner up finish including seniors Jasmine Gonzalez, Jordan Brown, juniors Kaydee West, Avery Weathers, Kenlea Hardin and sophomore Riley Alexander.

Woodson snuck by Avery for the third spot and will return five runners. Senior Savanna Sullivan, senior Ariana Priddy and a trio of juniors, Ella Martinez, Baylee Grey and Carla Dierke.

The Lady Bulldogs from Avery took the 4th spot by 3 places and will be led by Burkett. Juniors Mackenzie Arnold, Trinity Abbott, Lydia Williams, Brianna Ackley and senior Kelley Decker will be looking to make a return trip to Round Rock.

Do not be surprised if the team from Miller Grove makes their way into the mix. They are looking to get back on track this season after not filling a team last year. Led by Jamilyn Hensley (11th at state meet) and Ava Sotello, the girls are excited to have upperclassman Alaira Serrano, Celeste Robertson, and Aleah Sotello join them this season. Two other exciting additions will be freshmen Stracener and Kylie Hargrove who will make their own push to the top of this girls cross country team.
