Region 4 Preview

Region 4 has some quality individuals back from last years meet and then a few incoming freshman who will look to knock off the upperclassmen. The top seniors returning include Sianna Serrata of Tilden McMullen County, Abigail Huffhines of Aquilla, and Charli McCabe of Medina. They will look to hold off Moulton junior Estefania Colchado who had a great track season as well with two incoming freshman at Tilden McMullen County, Isabella Billingsley and Camie Taylor.

The McMullen County Cowgirls were able to win the region last year by 32 points. With the returners Serrata, senior Shelby Slavinski, sophomores Cassidy Slavinski and Kinlee Mills, and freshmen Billingsley, Taylor, Katie David, London Yanity and Leighton Yanity the Cowgirls look to be the favorite again this season. Coach Billingsley believes "this might end up being the best girls team I have ever had if the freshman will do what we think they are capable of."

Moulton took the regional runner up trophy last season, they had a good spring in which Colchado qualified for the state meet in both the 3200 and 1600 and junior Abygail Tinerjero qualified in the 400. Also, returning for the Lady Kittens will be senior Kaylee Trejo, senior Trista Michna and sophomore Samantha Michael. Moulton looks like a lock for atleast the regional runner-up spot.

The Medina Lady Cats return their entire team from their third place finish at last years regional meet. Returning for the Lady Cats is McCabe, senior Yadira Aguilar, sophomore Ahnika Grassie, sophomore Hallie Kunz, junior Kytlin Peterson, junior Victoria Taccetta and sophomore Kaydence Tilghman.

Like the others in the region Neches will a majority of their runners from 2021. Freshman Joely Jenkins, senior Bre Fredrickson, junior Libby Raine, sophomores Sealy Hines, Aubrey Kincade and Bailey Lovelady. The Lady Tigers have been a consistent qualifier to the state meet and there should be no reason why this year is any different.

If Neches slips up do not be surprised if Aquilla is there ready to knock them out of that spot to Round Rock.
