As a freshman last season, Micaela Villarreal finished second behind St. Agnes senior Leah Klenke at the TAPPS 6A State XC Championships. Her time of 11:37.00 now stands second on Antonian's all-time list.
Head Coach Devlyn Lovell has built a distance powerhouse at Antonian, and Villarreal has a chance to be one of the best under his tutelage.
At the TAPPS 6A State Track & Field Championships, Villarreal captured gold in the 1600 (5:11.06) and 3200 (11:21.29) while running a leg on the 4x400. Building on her freshman success is now the core objective. As the top returning 6A XC runner and defending 1600 / 3200 champion, Villarreal has an opportunity to cement her name among Antonian's impressive legacy in just her sophomore season.
