Top Boys
Johnny Rey Alvarez, Sr., Lytle - Team leader on a State championship cross country team. He is poised for another strong campaign on the track in the 1600m and 3200m.
Ilias Braxton, So., Cole - A solid freshman season led into a great cross country campaign that was capped by a 23rd place at the State meet, 45 seconds faster than the previous year. Has focused on the 800m and 1600m but might become a 2-miler this year.
Dean Carriger, So., Poth - Had an excellent freshman season and just missed out on making the State meet in the pole vault. He also was a Regional qualifier in the 300mH and will be better this year.
Larson Dziuk, Sr., Poth - He gets overshadowed a bit by his teammate, Aiden Reed, but is outstanding in his own right. He threw over 150'0 in the discus at six different meets last year. Getting to the State meet is not out of his reach.
Jose Gonzalez, Sr., Cotulla - He could be a one-man wrecking crew who can be excellent in the 100m, 200m, long jump and triple jump. Not sure what his best event is, but he should score a mess of points at his District meet.
Kevin Harris, Jr., Randolph - He was good in the 200m and long jump last year and the thought is that he will take another step forward this year to be one of the best in the area.
Zachary Hayden, Jr., Randolph - Showed huge progress in 2024 in both the 300mH and triple jump. He should be really good in the hurdles and has a shot at going to State in the event.
Landon Huereca, Sr., Jourdanton - A Regional finalist in the 200m who is a staple on their 4x100m and 4x200m relay teams. It is likely he will continue in the same vein again this year.
Aiden Martinez, Sr., Great Hearts Monte Vista - One of the best hurdlers, regardless of school size, in San Antonio. He was runner-up at the State meet in the 300mH and nearly medaled in the 110mH. Also a solid triple jumper.
Bryan Montes-Rodriguez, Jr., Lytle - Has had success on the track in the past as evidenced by a Regional final appearance in the 3200m. One of an outstanding group of distance runners at Lytle.
Palmer Vandevere, Jr., Randolph - He had a strong District meet taking runner-up in the 100m and 200m. Should be one of the best 100m runners in the area this year.
Colin Ramzinski, Sr., Poth - A three-time Regional qualifier in both hurdle events. He should make it a perfect 4-for-4 this year and he should have a chance to advance in the 110mH where he has a personal best of 14.70.
Aiden Reed, Sr., Poth - He will likely be the best shot putter in all of San Antonio and will be thinking about a State title. He posted huge personal records at both the Regional and State meets last year. Has the ability to medal in the discus as well.
Rustin Schuchart, Sr., Jourdanton - Has a wide skill set that includes being a Regional finalist in the shot put and running on a Regional finalist sprint relay team. Has also shown he is a solid high jumper.
Cooper Warrick, So., Stockdale - Has already been top-20 at the State in cross country, twice. He should be ready to drop some serious time in the 1600m and 3200m this year.
Krish Vijayvergia, Sr., Great Hearts Northern Oaks - Has been top-20 in the State in cross country each of the past two years. Did not run much on the track last year but ran a 4:39 mile as a sophomore.
