Brooke Lloyd is an undeniable star an the 400m is her playground. While she entered the season as a 52-second 400m runner from her sophomore season, she went under 53.0 for the first time this year.
At the Texas A&M Bluebonnet Invitational, Lloyd again displayed her winning with a 52.95 performance. Here is the real story behind the win... Lloyd was unable to run her way through last year's state meet qualifying rounds in the 400m, despite her sensational running last year.
Not only did she run a meet record, but she showed her ability to compete with champions by beating two state champions in the event from last season.

Boys 400m
Most know Kendrick Jones Jr. as a 200m specialist who is also very good at the long jump and the 100m. However, the Lake Belton junior is also extraordinary over 400m had run 45.66 this past summer. For those who were unaware got a lesson this weekend.
Jones Jr. made his first major appearance of the season in College Station and the one-lapper was possibly even more impressive opener than anyone could have imagined. He went toe-to-toe with most of the best quarter milers in the state. Jones Jr. Made used is speed to get an excellent start and then an evident effort to separate on the second turn made a difference.
He then began to pull even further away once hitting the home stretch. Jones has clearly been in the weight room and those efforts not only look good, but were also tangible with the strength he displayed.
His finishing time of 45.27 is a top US all-time top 15 performance and puts him No. 3 on the Texas all-time list. He now sits behind Jonathan Simms (45.12) and Aldrich Bailey (45.19).
