With district competition fast approaching, the girls of Region 1-2A are rounding into form.

In the sprints, New Home's River Gill surged to the top of the 100-meter leaderboard with a 12.15, over two tenths clear of anyone else in the region. Emorie McNabb of West Texas has been active in the short sprints as well, ranking No. 1 in the 200 with a 25.37 and appearing three times in the top 6 of the 200-meter list. She's also No. 2 in the 400 at 1:00.80, trailing only Farwell's Isabella Jaime, who owns the top time in that event with a 58.49. Jaime leads the region in both the 400 and 800 and ranks second in both events as well, showing the kind of range that will be tough to match at the area and regional level.

Distance standout Alexis Wade of Farwell has been piling up quality efforts all season. She currently leads the region in the 1600 (5:28.93) and 3200 (12:07.34), and she's posted the top three times in both events this year. Victoria Guerrero of Coleman sits behind ...
