Naomi Booker Dazzles for Gold In 6A Girls 100H

2025 UIL 6A Girls 100-Meter Hurdles

The 2025 UIL Girls 6A 100-meter hurdles brought plenty of drama and exceptional performances on the track. The race began with heartbreak, as Odessa Permian senior Alivia Rivera-Norman, one of the top contenders, was disqualified after a false start in lane 4. It was a crushing end to her season and high school career, leaving the field wide open for the remaining eight hurdlers to battle for the medals.

Tomball junior Naomi Booker seized that opportunity with confidence and power. Booker, who entered the meet with a season-best of 13.47, exploded out of the blocks and quickly established control. With smooth, attacking form over each hurdle, she surged ahead of the field and crossed the finish line with her arms raised in triumph, clocking an outstanding 13.30.

Freshman Kristian Coleman of Duncanville put on a fearless performance, refusing to back down from the more experienced runners. Coleman finished just behind Booker in 13.42, showing that the future is bright for Duncanville's hurdles program. Kelly Frederick, a senior from Humble Summer Creek, ran a sharp race to secure third in 13.53, capping her high school career with a well-earned bronze.

The depth of this field was remarkable, with seven girls finishing under 14 seconds - a true showcase of Texas sprint-hurdle talent. Jayla Cooper (13.68) and Phoenix Phillips (13.81) rounded out the top five, while Cristina Garcia, Sydney Smith, and Syenna Lara all posted impressive times. Despite the early disappointment with Rivera-Norman's disqualification, the race delivered a thrilling battle and highlighted Booker's rise as one of the best in the state.
