Kamryn Dyck Wins State Title In The 1A Girls 100m

2025 UIL 1A Girls 100m

The 2025 UIL Girls 1A 100-meter dash brought together a competitive and diverse field, with every grade level represented and plenty of speed on display. All eyes were on Kamryn Dyck of Loop, the top seed with an impressive season-best of 11.51, but the race didn't start smoothly for her. In lane 5, Dyck had a shaky start out of the blocks, forcing her to dig deep and rely on her raw speed and determination to reel in the field. She surged in the final meters to cross the line first in 12.13 seconds - a fantastic time aided by a 2.1 m/s wind, though just shy of the 1A record of 12.24 set a few years ago.

Right on Dyck's heels was sophomore Chloe Becker from Veribest, who ran a terrific race and kept the pressure on all the way to the finish. Becker clocked 12.25 for second place, a time that surely signals she'll be a major contender in the years ahead. In third place was Newcastle junior Catherine Youngblood, who posted a strong 12.37 to secure a podium finish.

The field behind them was tightly packed, with Bruni freshman McKinlie Williams (12.68) and Turkey Valley senior Trinity Schlueter (12.69) rounding out the top five in a near photo finish. Faith Jackson, Sydney Smith, Laney Horton, and freshman Kimble Shipman completed a race that showcased the depth of talent across the 1A classification. Despite the windy conditions, the athletes delivered a thrilling sprint final, with Dyck proving her championship mettle even when tested under pressure.
