2025 UIL 1A Girls 4x200 Relay
The 2025 UIL Girls 1A 4x200-meter relay delivered an exciting and tightly contested race, with Water Valley ultimately living up to its billing as the favorite. Coming in with the fastest time from the season (1:47.10), Water Valley's quartet of Jayden Gomez, Addy Luna, Kaige Lange, and Janaye Coston wasted no time making a statement. By the time the stagger began to unwind around the 700-meter mark, Water Valley had already made up ground on the outer lanes, asserting themselves as the team to beat.
Clyde Eula, featuring Reagan Barr, Calece Patterson, Emma Damron, and Hailie Cauthen, pushed Water Valley every step of the way. Despite a slight hiccup on their second exchange, Eula's strong third leg briefly put them in front heading into the final straight. But Water Valley's smooth final handoff and composed anchor leg sealed the victory in 1:46.08, with Eula holding on for a well-fought second place in 1:47.06.
Lamesa Klondike's team of Serenity Cruz, Malia Arismendez, Grace Stevens, and M'Kynleigh Barron also put together a solid performance, finishing third in 1:48.39. Borden County narrowly missed the podium, coming in fourth at 1:49.09, just ahead of Dodd City and Gordon in a deep and competitive field. It was a thrilling race marked by clean exchanges, standout legs, and a finishing kick that kept fans on the edge of their seats.
