2025 UIL 6A Girls 400m
The 2025 UIL Girls 6A 400-meter final was a showcase of raw speed and tactical brilliance, headlined by Humble Summer Creek's Brooke Lloyd. Coming in as the favorite and occupying lane 5, Lloyd lived up to all expectations and then some, delivering a dominant performance to capture gold in 52.44 seconds - one of the fastest times in UIL history and flirting with the state record. From the break, Lloyd surged ahead smoothly, handling the backstretch and curve with confidence and pulling away down the homestretch.
Just outside her in lane 6, Datavia Hunter of Lancaster was also rolling, coming in with a season-best of 53.78 and looking like a strong contender. But as they entered the final 100 meters, it was Priscilla Adu-Gyamfi of Cypress Ranch who unleashed a fierce finishing kick from lane 8, storming past Hunter in the closing strides to claim the silver medal in 53.28. Hunter, after a strong early push, faded slightly near the finish but still held on for bronze with a time of 53.60.
Meanwhile, Caila Lyons of Northside Brennan, who came in as a potential medal threat, struggled on the backstretch from lane 4 and fell out of contention, ultimately finishing ninth. Kennedi Thompson of Prosper Rock Hill and Zoe Woods of Pearland rounded out the top five with solid efforts. But the day belonged to Lloyd, whose commanding run left no doubt that she's among Texas's elite - and possibly headed toward even bigger stages.
