2025 TAPPS 2A Girls 200m State Championship Recap

The 2025 TAPPS 2A Girls 200 Meter Dash final was a dominant showing by Universal City First Baptist Academy, as they swept the top two spots on the podium. Senior Aaliyah Cobb defended her title in convincing fashion, blazing to a time of 25.30 (+1.9), improving significantly from her 2024 championship-winning mark of 26.36. Cobb, who also captured the 100-meter title earlier in the meet with a 12.41, cemented herself as one of TAPPS 2A's most complete sprinters, going undefeated in sprint finals in her senior season.

Her teammate Laila Jackson made it a 1-2 finish for First Baptist, clocking 25.70 for silver and pushing Cobb through the finish line in one of the fastest 2A sprint duos in recent memory. Universal City capped their dominance in the event with a third finalist, Georgia Alford, who placed eighth in 27.98. Their depth was unmatched, and their presence in three of the eight lanes left no doubt about the program's strength in the sprints.

Leah Hurley of Bryan St. Joseph Catholic added to her already impressive weekend with a third-place finish in 26.54. Hurley had earlier won the 400 meters in a personal-best 1:00.32, proving her range and strength over multiple events. Just behind her was San Antonio Atonement's Abigail Casey, who clocked 26.58 for fourth, capping off a strong performance after anchoring her team's relays.

Also notable were Shiner St. Paul's Skylar Mozisek and Holy Trinity's Zaya Blackwood, who placed fifth and sixth, respectively. Both athletes were also finalists in the 100 meters-Mozisek placing fourth and Blackwood taking third-which made the 200 a showdown of the division's best all-around sprinters.

The 2025 2A girls 200m final not only delivered fast times and returning stars like Cobb and Hurley but also highlighted the program depth of Universal City First Baptist Academy and the continued rise of all-around talents throughout the division.

2025 TAPPS 3A Girls 200m State Championship Recap

The 2025 TAPPS 3A Girls 200 Meter Dash brought together some of the division's most promising young sprinters, and it was a freshman who stole the spotlight. GloryEvelyn Mitchell of Covenant Classical burst onto the scene with a clutch performance, clocking 26.62 (+2.1) to edge out the competition by just 0.03 seconds. Mitchell, who had earlier claimed the 100-meter title in 13.04 and placed sixth in the 400m (would have finished first or second, but a surprising sportsmanship decision changed the trajectory of the finish), capped off a breakout meet that establishes her as a rising star in 3A girls sprints.

Right behind Mitchell was Elizabeth Hamblin of Kennedale Fellowship Academy, another underclassman standout who crossed in 26.65. Hamblin, a finalist from last year's meet where she placed fifth, showed major improvement and displayed her range throughout the weekend with a seventh-place finish in the 400m and competitive efforts in the 100m as well. She teamed up with Raelynn Brown, who finished fourth in 27.44, to help Fellowship put two runners in the top five-a testament to their strong sprint program.

The battle for third was taken by senior Hannah Dunster of Huntsville Alpha Omega Academy, who closed her high school career with a time of 27.05. Meanwhile, Mitchell's Covenant Classical teammate, Abby Latimer, placed fifth in 27.50 after finishing second in the 100m, continuing a strong showing for their sprint squad.

Central Texas Christian also made an impact with two finalists: Avery Sindel and Addison Allerkamp. Both underclassmen ran personal bests of 28.13 and 28.35, respectively. Allerkamp, who had taken bronze in this event in 2024 (23.89), was a factor again this season and also finished third in the 100m. Lutheran's Leah Wenthe rounded out the field in 28.64 and also notched a top-five finish in the 400 meters.

Compared to last year's winning time of 26.03 by Mercy Freeman, this year's race featured a deeper field of sprinters under the 27.50 mark and highlighted the emergence of a new generation of young stars ready to carry the torch for TAPPS 3A sprinting.

2025 TAPPS 4A Girls 200m State Championship Recap

The 2025 TAPPS 4A Girls 200 Meter Dash was a fast and competitive race, headlined by a strong group of returning finalists and breakout underclassmen. Arlington Pantego Christian's Neriah Williams, the defending champion from 2024, capped off her TAPPS career with a commanding title defense, running 25.23 (+3.3) to secure the win. The victory also completed a sprint double for Williams, who earlier in the meet had claimed gold in the 100 meters with a time of 12.05. Her speed and consistency once again proved unmatched in the division.

Finishing as the runner-up for the second straight year was Brianna Harrison of Colleyville Covenant Christian. After clocking 26.35 in 2024, she improved significantly in 2025 with a 25.51 effort, showing marked progress in her final season. Harrison, who also won the 400m in 57.31, delivered one of the most complete sprint performances of the meet, cementing her place as one of TAPPS 4A's most versatile and reliable athletes.

Austin Hill Country Christian's Kinsley Hendrix, just a sophomore, had a major breakout this weekend. After placing third in the 100 meters (12.38), Hendrix nearly matched Harrison stride for stride in the 200m and finished a very close third in 25.52. Her performance marks her as a rising star in TAPPS sprinting and positions her as a top contender for next year's title.

Also showing range and consistency was Houston Northland Christian's Sasha Simon, who placed fourth in 26.25. She backed up that effort with a silver-medal performance in the 400m (1:00.83) and a fourth-place finish in the 100m, displaying a well-rounded skill set across all sprint disciplines. Carrollton Prince of Peace's Krystal Koehler also made her presence felt in the 200m with a fifth-place finish (26.34), matching her result from the 100m where she also placed fifth.

The depth of the final rounded out with Kevwe Emoghene of Mesquite Dallas Christian (26.92) and Karly Kruger of New Braunfels Christian Academy (26.98), both finishing under the 27-second mark on the windy day.

Compared to 2024's winning time of 26.14 into a headwind, the 2025 field benefited from a strong tailwind, but the talent level and experience made for a faster, deeper race. With multiple athletes doubling across sprint events, the 4A girls' sprints once again showcased elite talent and fierce competitiveness.

2025 TAPPS 5A Girls 200m State Championship Recap

The senior standout capped her high school sprint career in style, adding the 200m title to her 400m gold (54.73) from earlier in the meet. A year after placing second in this event behind Aliyah Johnson, Minor returned to reclaim her spot at the top of the podium and leave no doubt about her dominance in the quarter-mile and sprint double.

In second was freshman Sienna Walter from Houston Second Baptist, who clocked 25.08 to continue an outstanding debut season. Walter also placed runner-up in the 100 meters (12.18), establishing herself as a future title contender with top finishes in both short sprints. Just behind her was Jaeden Thomas of Fort Worth Southwest Christian, the 100m state champion (12.14), who grabbed third in the 200m with a time of 25.17. Thomas finishes her senior year with a gold and bronze, showing exceptional range across the sprints.

Olivia Peak, a consistent presence for San Antonio Christian, finished fourth in 25.40, improving on her fifth-place finish from 2024. She also added a seventh-place finish in the 100 meters, demonstrating her all-around sprint talent. Minor's teammate Kristen Shell also contributed to Fort Bend Christian's strong team showing with a solid fifth-place finish at 25.43, helping secure crucial points in the team standings.

Halle Gunter of Midland Christian was sixth in 25.68, followed by freshman Bree Born and junior Carlie Combe, both from Grapevine Faith Christian, who placed seventh and eighth respectively. Born's top-three finish in the 100m (12.24) coupled with her 200m final appearance marked an impressive start to her TAPPS career.

With Minor's blazing finish, Walter's arrival, and Thomas' double-podium effort, the 2025 5A 200-meter final served as a thrilling showcase of sprinting excellence and the passing of the baton from elite seniors to a new wave of talent.

2025 TAPPS 6A Girls 200m State Championship Recap

The 2025 TAPPS 6A Girls 200 Meter Dash final delivered a powerful statement: St. Dominic Savio Catholic's freshman sprint duo is here to dominate. Chayse Madison-Haire, fresh off her 100m state title in 11.87, completed the sprint double with a blazing 24.29 (+5.0) in the 200 meters to win gold. Just steps behind her was teammate Mya Harris, another ninth grader who ran 24.54 to take silver. The two freshmen combined for an astonishing 1-2 finish, solidifying Savio Catholic as a rising sprint power in TAPPS.

The bronze medal went to Stanford commit Samantha Ennin of Plano John Paul II, the defending champion from 2024. Ennin improved significantly on her previous year's time of 25.27 (into a headwind) by clocking 24.70, and also took silver in the 100 meters (12.11), wrapping up a strong senior campaign. Her leadership helped usher in one of the fastest sprint finals in recent TAPPS history, with multiple girls running well under last year's winning mark.

Ra'Nyah Lockhart-Sadler, a freshman from Dallas Bishop Lynch, finished fourth in 25.41, ahead of fellow ninth grader Brooke Ridder of Liberty Christian (25.67). The youth movement in the 6A sprint ranks was undeniable, with five of the top six finishers either freshmen or sophomores. Madison Dodd of Concordia Lutheran (6th) and Ify Egwuenu of Liberty Christian (7th) rounded out a deep field of experienced competitors and emerging talent.

This final was a sharp contrast to 2024, where no athlete dipped under 25 seconds. In 2025, even with the help of a tailwind, the sheer speed and youth on display signaled a new era in TAPPS 6A girls sprinting. Combined with Mya Harris's 400m title (56.66) and Madison-Haire's 100m win, St. Dominic Savio Catholic appears poised to dominate the sprint scene for years to come.
