District 5-5A ran their
Championship meet today under overcast skies, high humidity and winds gusting
to 30 MPH .Southlake Carroll and Keller
finishing first and second dominated the girls Varsity division with Carroll
placing 5 in the top 10 and Keller placing 4 of the top 10.The girls were again led by Carroll's tandem
of juniors Miranda Walker (11:14)
and Brooke Upshaw (11:22).Carlene Mayfield of Keller, returning to
varsity competition only two weeks ago finished 3rd (11:43), Kelly Dawson, Keller crossed the line 4th
(12:03).Brittney
Alberto and Christina Ferber from Southlake finished 5th and 6th.Haltom secured the 3rd invitation
to Region I next week in Lubbock.
Also advancing to Lubbock next week will be Stephanie Schoeneman of Fossil
Ridge.
The boys division was a
carbon copy of the girl race with Carroll and Keller taking the top 2
positions.The Carroll boys finished 1,2
and 3 with senior Kevin Ondrasek (16:24)
freshman Colby Lowe (16:51)
and senior Orey Smith (17:00).Keller runners Harp Tanner (17:21) and Daniel Anderson (17:24) rounded out the top 5.Keller Fossil Ridge finished 3rd
to claim their spot in Lubbock next week.Fossil Ridge was led by Michael Oler and Javier Errisuriz.Also advancing to the Region I meet will be
Michael Ray of Colleyville.
