Meet Recap: TAPPS State Championships

The Antonian boys won the TAPPS 6A title again in 2025

The 2025 TAPPS State Cross Country Championships brought together the very best from Texas' private and parochial school distance running programs for an unforgettable day of competition in Waco. From the early morning races at the Cottonwood Creek Golf Course to the final stretch surges in the afternoon heat, it was a full day of elite racing that delivered on every level.

Twelve state championship races - six boys and six girls divisions across TAPPS classifications 1A through 6A - unfolded with grit, tactical savvy, and heart. Athletes came in tested and proven, many of them having competed in major invitationals around Texas and even out of state. But yesterday, all roads led to Waco, and the only focus was claiming a TAPPS state title.

The meet served as a stage for individual brilliance, breakout performances, and strategic team depth. Champions defended crowns, underdogs delivered upsets, and programs cemented legacies with state titles. Whether it was low-stick dominance or tight pack running that made the difference, every classification had a unique story to tell.

From 1A newcomers to 6A powerhouses, we witnessed incredible displays of mental toughness, race-day execution, and program culture. Nerves were high, the stakes were higher, and by the end of the day, twelve teams and twelve individuals had their moment at the top of the podium.

Up next, we'll dive into a breakdown of each of the twelve races, reviewing the individual champions, team strategies, key battles, and how the titles were ultimately decided in Waco at the 2025 TAPPS State Cross Country Championships.
