The race for the 6A Girls state title often mirrors the Boys in that it's one of the most competitively thrilling runs of the year. Much like the 6A Boys, the 6A Girls race has seen a sustained period of dominance from a DFW team, this time in the form of Flower Mound. Having won every state title since 2020, Flower Mound has mirrored the dynasty of Carroll through the consistent ability to develop and retain talent at a rate that no other team has been able to match. 

Despite this historic run of dominance, Flower Mound hasn't been without their challengers. While the Jaguars once again look to be the best team in the field, there are several teams that could still have a viable run at the title. 

The Jaguars have led the way from the jump this season. As a squad, they hold a team average of 17:48 with a 70-second spread. Adeline Bennett has returned to lead the team after finishing 4th at the state meet to round out the UIL portion of her sophomore campaign last season. Bennet has continued to improve this season, running in the mid-17s consistently and setting a new personal best of 17:07.00 at the UIL 6A - District 05 meet to begin the championship season. As a team, the Jaguars took home the Region I crown with just 42 points, further asserting themselves as the front-runners to take the title as we head into Round Rock. 

Of the teams vying to take Flower Mound's title, Bridgeland has once again looked like a solid contender. The Bears have returned another solid squad this season despite losing Lily Fawcett to graduation at the end of the spring. Rowan Saacke has again asserted her state title-winning pedigree, running 17:04.90 at her best this season and looking like one of the state's best runners for the second consecutive season. As a team, the Bears hold a team average of 17:54 with a 78-second spread. They most recently took home the Region II title yet again, showing they're in prime form heading into the weekend. 

Unlike the Boys race, where there looks to be three defined teams competing for the three podium spots. The race for the title on the Girls' side appears much tighter. Northwest Nelson and Southlake Carroll sit as great contenders to end up on the podium, with little to separate each of them. Northwest Nelson sits at the top of the team score ranking with a 17:44 team average and a 48-second split. They most recently finished third in Region I and have looked solid this year. Carroll also returns a strong squad coming off a second-place finish in Lubbock. The Dragons hold a 17:59 team average and a 65-second spread, while Katy comes in off a Region III victory with an 18:23 team average and a 29-second spread. 

Saturday's race in Round Rock will undoubtedly be close due to the amount of talent on display. At the moment, it looks to be a tall task to prevent Flower Mound from repeating, but as we've seen, anything can happen on race day. This race will ultimately be decided by whoever sticks the most runners in the top twenty, with depth proving not to necessarily matter quite as much as it does on the boys' side. Flower Mound looks to have it made heading into Saturday, but the title isn't locked up until everyone crosses the line.
