College Station, Texas will once again play host to one of the most unique and rapidly growing championship opportunities for young distance runners: the BCS High School Division Relay. Held in conjunction with what MarathonGuide.com currently ranks as the highest-rated marathon in Texas, the four-runner relay offers high school programs a rare chance to compete for a state championship title on a certified marathon course, while experiencing the full energy and spirit of the Bryan-College Station community and the iconic Texas A&M campus.

The 2025 edition is shaping up to be the biggest yet, with a powerhouse lineup of committed programs from across the state. Elite cross-country schools, including Southlake Carroll, Flower Mound, Vandegrift, Bridgeland, Katy, Colleyville Heritage, The Woodlands, Kingwood, Seven Lakes, Flower Mound Marcus, Canyon, Lucas Lovejoy, Andrews, Austin Bowie, Austin Westlake, and a strong local contingent from College Station and A&M Consolidated, have all entered teams. Schools may bring as many squads as they want, fueling a competitive but celebratory atmosphere across the Boys, Girls, and Co-ed divisions.

Meet Info.

The race begins at 6:50 a.m. sharp from Wolf Pen Creek Park, ensuring cool running conditions and an electric team-based environment. The four-leg marathon relay challenges each runner to take on a different stretch of the flat, fast, and USATF-certified course. With shaded neighborhoods, golf-course vistas, rolling sections near miles 11-13, and strong crowd support throughout, athletes will get a marathon experience tailor-made for speed, one that even qualifies adult competitors for the Boston Marathon.

Each runner receives a finisher jacket, custom relay baton, and medal, while championship teams take home a custom marathon backpack and the official Texas High School Marathon State Championship Trophy. With a registration fee of $50 per athlete, the event remains one of the most affordable and meaningful postseason opportunities available to high school endurance athletes.

Charitable Purpose

What makes the BCS Marathon truly special, however, is its mission. Founded in 2011 by the Mercy Project, the race supports ongoing efforts to eradicate child slavery in Ghana through sustainable economic development programs. The nonprofit's founder, Chris Field, and his team work year-round to ensure the event is not only seamlessly executed but deeply impactful, turning every relay exchange and every mile covered into tangible progress for children in need.

Whether teams arrive chasing fast times, a state title, off-season bonding, or the thrill of racing on Aggie soil, one thing is certain: the 2025 BCS Marathon High School Relay is poised to become a December tradition that Texas runners circle on their calendars. With elite competition, meaningful purpose, and an unforgettable race environment, College Station will once again be the place where teams run not only for victory, but for something bigger.
