Rittenberry wins heptathlon

The 38th Annual ASU/David Noble Relays continued Friday as the heptathlon and decathlon wrapped up at the LeGrand Sports Complex. The open meet will start with field events and preliminary running events at 12:30 p.m. Saturday.

Rittenberry opened Friday with a leap of 17-2.75 in the long jump, followed that with a throw of 87-7 in the javelin and closed the competition with a time of 2:34.03 in the 800-meter run. In all, Rittenberry recorded four personal bests over the two-day competition, also setting a career-best time in the 200-meter dash (26.17) Thursday. In just her second career heptathlon, Rittenberry improved her point total by nearly 200 points. She scored 4,095 points at the ASU Spring Break Multis last month.
