Natchitoches, La - Paced by Kylie Fitzgerald who won the 3,000 meter steeplechase and Kristi Hermes who was first in the pole vault, the Sam Houston State women's track team posted 15 top 10 individual finishes at the Northwestern State University Invitational Saturday.
Fitzgerald's winning mark was 12:42.10. Hermes took the vault clearing 11 feet, 7.75 inches.
The Bearkat women's relay of Folashade George, Brittany Henson, Jordan Heggie and Sabrina Starr was the runner-up in the 4x100 meter relay with a time of 47.26
Sam Houston dominated the 100 meter hurdles and the pole vault. Heggie (13.62) was the runner-up in the hurdles with Starr (13.77) and Pashe Moore (14.47) placing third and seventh, respectively. Along with Hermes' first place finish, Shelbie Zotyka (11' 1.75") was the runner-up and Kaylee Brazeel placed eighth (10' 2").
Alysaa Dooley (4:51.49) was third in the 1500 meters and Dakota Stewart (1:04.81) and Brittany Hensen (1:06.29) placed fourth and sixth, respectively, in the 400 meter hurdles.
Sixth place finishers included Monika May (55.73) in the 400 meters and Jasmine Mitchell (37' 1.75") in the triple jump. Eighth place marks included Molly Farrell (20:30.04) in the 5,000 meters and Danielle Ordonez (4' 11.5") in the high jump.
