Letter Harris sent to school's track and field community

Dear MHS track parents, athletes, and supporters -

First of all, let me thank you for the opportunity to coach your children. It is indeed a privilege to work with young people especially as it relates to a sport that I am very passionate about. As much as I have taught them, I feel as though I learn more about myself and grow as a person working with them as well.

Last week, I was offered an opportunity to advance my career in education and though it was a tough decision to make, I feel as though this is a decision that is in not only in my best interest, but also that of my family. It was not a decision that I took lightly because as many of you know, Mauldin High School is my home. I graduated from Mauldin in 1998, was a student-athlete at Mauldin, and have spent the last six years there.

I have accepted a position to join the administration at Northwest Middle School as an administrative assistant. I have worked diligently on completing my coursework towards my Masters in School Administration over the last three years and with the counsel of my wife, family, close friends, and colleagues in education, felt as though this was an opportunity I could not pass up.

This track program has blossomed over the last few years - county championships, individual region and state champions, competing with some of the best programs in the state, and hosting our school's first home meet in 12 years this past spring. I certainly expect there to be even more successes to come in the near future.

Thank you again and I wish you all the best in the future!

Terrence L. Harris
