Lutz, Rathjen and Southlake Carroll Dominate at Marcus I

Boys 5A Race Summary
 

Craig Lutz put on a great performance breaking Colby Lowe's course record of 14:59 going 14:53.57. It was really a great morning for running as the usually hot and humid meet was met with great cool weather.Lutz slowly extended his lead on the fast starting Southlake Carroll contingent. Southlake put 5 in the top 10 in the first mile with all 5 of their runners going under 4:50. The team battle was not much as a battle as #8 Southlake easily beat #2 Marcus and #4 Flower Mound. Previously unranked Amarillo Tascosa had a great showing placing 3rd overall averaging 16:23 for their top 5.

Girls 5A Race Summary

Natalie Rathjen made a great first impression as she won in her first attempt at Marcus I. The FR blistered the course running a aolo 10:44.99. The time beats Chelsey Sveinsson time last year on this course. #1 Southlake Carroll looked really good. #4 4A Highland Park earned a 2nd place overall beating 5A Ranked teams Coppell (#8), Flower Mound (#6) and Lewisville Hebron (#10).
