Wildcats to run at OSU Jamboree

STILLWATER, Okla. – The ACU men's and women's cross country teams will be back in action Saturday morning at the Oklahoma State Cowboy Jamboree, the oldest cross country race in the country.

The women's 6,000-meter race at the OSU Cross Country Course will get started at 9:15 a.m. Saturday with the men's 8,000-meter race to follow at approximately 9:45 a.m.

The ACU men's team is the top-ranked team in the NCAA Division II South Central Region and No. 18 team in the country after not being ranked in either poll in the pre-season.  The men haven't raced since winning the Central Missouri Mule Run two weeks ago in Warrensburg, Mo.

Amos Sang has picked up right where he left off last spring during outdoor track and field season.  The senior from Kenya has won the individual title at each of ACU's first two meets, leading the Wildcats to a second-place finish at the Baylor Bear Invitational and the team title at Central Missouri.

His teammates Cleophas Tanui and Romain Rybicki have given the Wildcats a solid trio atop their lineup.

The women's team has been much improved over last year's version that finished eighth at the Lone Star Conference championship meet and failed to qualify for the regional championship meet.

Anais Belledant, Chloe Susset and Alyse Goldsmith helped the Wildcats finish a solid fifth last weekend in San Antonio and have the Wildcats poised to challenge for the LSC championship in November.
