This Week's Nominees:
Caden Leonard, Carroll High School (Texas): Swept the distance events at UIL 5A Region II & UIL 6A Region I, clocking 8:45.14 in the 3200 and 4:05.04 in the 1600. Both marks led the week's competition, with Leonard winning the 3200 by defeating 30 other runners and taking the 1600 over a field of 28.
Jackson Kerth, Kerrville Tivy (Texas): Dominated both throwing events at UIL 5A Region IV & UIL 6A Region IV with a 64-9.25 shot put and 189-1 discus, both meet wins. The shot put makes him the top junior in Texas, while his discus ranks him as the #2 junior statewide.
Avonte Earl, Houston Worthing (Texas): Posted a blazing 13.20 in the 110 hurdles to win at UIL 4A Region III, making him the state's fastest sophomore in the event. He added victories in the 300 hurdles (36.83) and 100 meters (10.62), giving him state-leading sophomore marks in both hurdle events.
Dillon Mitchell, Sheldon King (Texas): Ran a state-leading 20.60 in the 200 at UIL 5A Region III & UIL 6A Region III, though he finished second in the race. He also won the 100 meters in 10.13, leading this week's competition and ranking as the top sophomore in Texas in both sprint events.
Blake Hamilton, Katy Tompkins (Texas): Won the 200 meters at UIL 5A Region III & UIL 6A Region III in 20.27, defeating state leader Dillon Mitchell head-to-head in a field of 31 runners.
