Magnolia's Amaraiah Molden takes down a strong field to win the UIL 6A 300-Meter Hurdles state title
2026 UIL Track and Field State Championships
The UIL Class 6A Girls 300 Meter Hurdles final featured one of the deepest and most competitive fields of the meet, with eight of the nine finalists breaking the 43-second mark. From the opening hurdle, the race demanded precision and rhythm, as athletes navigated eight 30-inch barriers over a long sprint that punished even small technical errors. The stretch from the start to the first hurdle proved critical in establishing position, with early leaders immediately setting the tone in a tightly packed race.
Coming into the meet, Morgan Olschewsky, a sophomore from Plano Senior, held the top regional mark at 41.21, while Humble Summer Creek senior Phoenix Phillips entered as the second-fastest qualifier at 41.51. Phillips was first to clear the opening hurdle, showing strong early acceleration, while Olschewsky stayed composed in the chase pack, positioning herself for a strong finish. Defending state champion Naomi Booker, a senior from Tomball, also remained firmly in contention throughout, adding to the intensity of the championship battle.
