Several Texas high school athletes set personal records and school marks at the UIL State Track and Field Championships on May 14.
Haydyn McCabe (West) threw 176-4 in the discus, improving from his previous best of 123-2 set in May 2026. The mark ranks #31 in Texas and #11 among juniors statewide, breaking the West school record. McCabe finished 15th of 54 competitors and also set a personal record in the shot put with 48-5.5, improving from 43-4.
Adalyn Falls (Ropes) ran 14.33 in the 100-meter hurdles, dropping from her previous best of 15.10 from May 2026. The time ranks #32 in the state and set a new Ropes school record. Falls placed 23rd of 54 competitors and also recorded a personal best in the 300-meter hurdles with 43.30, improving from 44.98.
Kamden Tidwell (Breckenridge) cleared 11-9 in the pole vault, improving nine inches from her previous mark of 11-0 set in May 2026. The sophomore ranks #42 statewide and #5 among sophomores while setting a Breckenridge school record. Tidwell finished 22nd of 52 vaulters.
Brayden Thornburg (Fairfield) threw 167-10 in the discus, improving from his previous best of 117-4 from May 2026. The mark ranks #59 in Texas and established a new Fairfield school record. Thornburg placed 22nd of 54 throwers.
Dj Seaborn (Liberty Hill) jumped 51-0.25 in the triple jump, improving from his previous mark of 48-9. The performance ranks #3 in Texas and earned third place among 51 competitors.
Aryssa Cooper (Tyler Chapel Hill) ran 23.62 in the 200 meters, improving from her previous best of 24.42. The junior ranks #20 statewide and #4 among juniors while setting a Tyler Chapel Hill school record. Cooper finished 10th of 52 runners.
Kira Bowman (Nevada Community) cleared 14-0.5 in the pole vault, improving from her previous mark of 13-6. The senior ranks #1 in Texas and #1 among seniors while setting a Nevada Community school record. Bowman won the event among 52 competitors.
