Final Results / Men's Point Totals / Women's Point Totals

STEPHENVILLE – Four ACU athletes took home two individual championships apiece Sunday as the Wildcat men's track and field team won its 18th straight Lone Star Conference championship at Memorial Stadium.

The ACU men finished with 223 points to 166.50 for runner-up Angelo State and 106 for third-place Texas A&M-Kingsville.  The ACU women were second to Angelo State for the third straight season.  The Rabmbelles finished with 197 points to 168.50 for the second-place Wildcats.  West Texas A&M was third with 96 points, followed by Incarnate Word with 94.50 points.

On the men's side, ACU seniors Desmond Jackson, Amos Sang, Nick Jones and Ramon Sparks – the same quartet who combined to win the NCAA Division II indoor national championship back in March – each won two events Sunday to help the Wildcats win the team title.

Jackson blistered the Memorial Stadium track, winning both the 100 meters (10.10 seconds) and 200 meters (20.58), although both times were above the legal wind limit as the wind clocked in at 3.9 meters per second in both races.

Sang – who last year won the 800 meters, 1500 meters, 5000 meters and 10,000 meters to help the Wildcats to the team title – won the 800 meters (1:56.56) and 1500 meters (3:58.69) on Sunday and didn't compete in either of the two long-distance races this season.

Jones – the top-ranked discus thrower in the nation – won both the discus (189 feet, 9 inches) and the shot put (57-5.50) to give the Wildcats 20 points.

Sparks won both the long jump (24-7.25) and the triple jump (57-5.50) for the Wildcats.

Other event winners were Kevin Johnson (14.23 in 110 hurdles), Tyler Fleet (190-0 in the hammer) and Parker Petty in the decathlon (6,326 points).

On the women's side, Alyse Goldsmith and Chloe Susset each won two events for the Wildcats to help them to a second-place finish.

Susset won the 1500 meters (4:46.26) and the 3000 steeplechase (11:36.70), while Goldsmith won the 5000 meters (18:54.59) and 10,000 meters (38:53.82).

Transfer Amanda Ouedraogo won her first conference championship with a mark of 42-5.50 in the triple jump.  Defending national champion Paige Newby won the discus with  a mark of 156-7, while Jessica Sloss won the hammer with a throw of 168-5.  Cassie Brooks won the heptathlon on Saturday with 4,696 points.
