Kira Bowman leads Texas and the nation. Here is where the girls pole vault leaderboard stands
Kira Bowman of Nevada Community won the 4A girls pole vault at the UIL State Championships with a mark of 14-0.5 - the top mark the country. She won the 6A title last year at 13-3 for Royse City, placed 3rd at Nike Outdoor Nationals at 13-4.75 and competed at the USATF U20 Championships. This year she competed for Nevada Community in 4A and cleared 14-0.5 in Austin. Her last mark before state was 12-3 at the 4A Region II meet two weeks prior. What a way to close out a high school career.
Nationally she leads by half an inch. Annie McCracken of Granville (OH) cleared 14-0 at the Granville HS Invitational on Apr 17 and held the national lead for over a month. Viola Wilent of Lower Merion (PA) matched her at the PIAA State Championships on May 22-23. Bowman leads both.
Brooklyn Nalley of Rockwall Heath went 13-3.25 at the Rockin R Relays on Mar 13 - the second-best mark in Texas and US#18 - and that turned out to be her season best. She cleared 13-0 at state for second place, the third straight year she has vaulted at UIL State. She placed 2nd in 2024 at 12-9, 5th in 2025 at 12-6 and 2nd again in 2026 at 13-0.
Carla Angueira-Colombani of Katy Seven Lakes cleared 13-3 at state for tied 3rd in Texas and US#19. A year ago she placed 4th at state at 12-6. She also runs the 100m at 11.98 and long jumps at 19-6.5. She is a junior who returns next season.
Ava Tucker of Brock also sits tied 3rd in Texas at US#19 with her 13-3, cleared at the UIL 4A Area meet on Apr 17. Sofia Mitschke of Smithson Valley is 5th in Texas at 13-1, also a junior. Texas has four athletes in the national top 19 at 13-3 or better.
