ACU picked to win LSC title

RICHARDSON – Defending champions Abilene Christian and Midwestern State are the favorites to capture the 2011 Lone Star Conference men's and women's cross country championships, respectively, according to the league's preseason poll announced in late July.

The Wildcats received 16 first-place votes for a total of 187 points in the men's poll, while the Mustangs were the top choice on 20 of 22 ballots for 196 points on the women's side.

In 2010, ACU's men won their 20th straight conference crown, while the MSU women earned their third consecutive title.

Nine men's teams and women's teams start their season in September, while the postseason begins with the LSC Championships hosted by Angelo State, on October 22, 2011.
