Beaver delivered Texas' top boys field-event finish Monday, placing fourth in the 13-year-old discus. The Frisco Phoenix Track Club athlete threw 141 feet, 4 inches and finished just 2 inches behind third place in a tightly contested medal race.
Stone Miller - 17-18 800, 1:55.48
Miller recorded the fifth-fastest time of the 17-18 boys 800 preliminaries, crossing in 1:55.48 for Rockwall Mustangs Track. He finished second in his heat and was one of only eight athletes in the field to break 1:56.50.
Josiah Ojo - 11-year-old 3,000, 11:09.19
Ojo earned a top-eight national finish in the 11-year-old boys 3,000. The Dallas Elite Track athlete placed eighth in 11:09.19, finishing less than a second behind seventh place and securing one of Texas' strongest distance results of the day.
Ivory Sheffield - 14-year-old 800, 2:04.70
Sheffield posted the sixth-fastest qualifying time in the 14-year-old boys 800. Representing Texas Titans Athletics, he ran 2:04.70 and finished only eight-hundredths of a second behind fifth place in a deep preliminary field.
Christopher Esparza - 17-18 800, 1:56.69
Esparza gave Texas Titans Athletics another strong result in the older boys 800, finishing 10th overall in 1:56.69. He missed a top-eight position by only 0.22 seconds and was separated from ninth place by two-hundredths.
Girls
Campbell Garbarino - 17-18 400 hurdles, 1:01.61
Garbarino produced one of Monday's best Texas performances, recording the third-fastest time in the 17-18 girls 400-meter hurdles preliminaries. The Hill Country Comets athlete won her heat in 1:01.61 and finished only 0.21 seconds behind the overall leader.
Katharine Powell - 17-18 400 hurdles, 1:01.62
Powell followed directly behind Garbarino, finishing fourth overall in 1:01.62 for Texas Select Track Club. She won her preliminary heat and was only one-hundredth of a second behind Garbarino, giving Texas two of the day's four fastest qualifiers.
Sophia Lopez - 17-18 800, 2:11.94
Lopez turned in the third-fastest time of the 17-18 girls 800 preliminaries. The Texas Select Track Club runner won her heat in 2:11.94 and edged the fourth-place athlete by two-thousandths of a second.
Avery Urrabazo - 12-year-old 3,000, 11:07.01
Urrabazo placed fifth nationally in the 12-year-old girls 3,000 for Texas Titans Athletics. She broke 11:10 and finished more than seven seconds ahead of sixth place, earning one of Texas' highest individual finals finishes Monday.
Savannah McDonald - 17-18 800, 2:13.68
McDonald finished ninth overall in the 17-18 girls 800 preliminaries for Rockwall Mustangs Track. Her 2:13.68 performance left her only 0.16 seconds outside the top eight and gave Rockwall strong showings in both the boys and girls races.
