Senior Eva Zabarcencu took control of the race and never gave it back, winning in 18:26.61. She finished more than 30 seconds ahead of 6A Comal Canyon senior Madi Molinar, who was runner-up in 18:59.78.
Canyon Lake sophomore Sophie Eastland made it two 4A runners among the first three, crossing in 19:10.47.
Behind them, the team battle came down to 6A Comal Canyon and 5A Smithson Valley, with Comal Canyon edging out the win.
Smithson Valley, ranked No. 4 in Class 5A in the latest Cross Country Coaches Association of Texas poll, continued its week-to-week improvement despite competing short-handed.
The Rangers packed three runners into the top seven overall. Aubrey Pozzi led Smithson Valley with a fourth-place finish in 19:16.85, followed closely by Addison Knibbe in sixth at 19:25.94 and Skyler Fonseca in seventh at 19:31.21.
Comal Canyon countered with impressive depth. After Molinar's runner-up finish, Paola Vargas-Llanos finished eighth in 19:39.08, Mary Grace Peacock was ninth in 19:40.32, and Caroline Tutt took 10th in 19:42.58.
That pack proved to be the difference. Comal Canyon scored 33 points to edge the short-handed Rangers by just four, 33-37. San Antonio Northside O'Connor finished third with 112 points.
For Smithson Valley, Cameryn Cavazos finished 14th in 20:12.18, and Caroline Zygmont followed in 16th at 20:19.45 to complete the Rangers' scoring five.

Randolph junior Caroline Finley was close behind in 12:15.77, while Kerrville Tivy freshman Ivery Evans turned in one of the division's top underclassmen performances, taking third in 12:34.95.
Davenport, ranked No. 6 in Class 4A in the latest Cross Country Coaches Association of Texas poll, used its depth to take the team championship with 34 points. The Wolves placed five scoring runners among the first 11 overall, led by freshman Raelin Cortinas, who finished fourth in 12:55.35.
No. 10 Wimberley finished second with 49 points, followed by Kerrville Tivy with 72 and Pleasanton with 90.
Bliss, Hernandez Trade the Lead
The 1A-4A boys race featured one of the day's more intriguing individual battles.
Davenport junior Caleb Bliss and Kerrville Tivy freshman Pedro Hernandez went back and forth at the front of the race, trading the lead throughout before Bliss eventually created enough separation to secure the victory.
Bliss crossed in 16:43.93, while Hernandez finished runner-up in 16:54.68, just 10.75 seconds behind the winner.
Randolph freshman Elijah Carbajal added another strong freshman performance, finishing third in 17:06.28.
Randolph's depth ultimately delivered the boys team championship. The Ro-Hawks scored 37 points, placing five scorers among the first 15. Davenport finished second with 47, while Kerrville Tivy was third with 63.
Love Blazes 15:27 on Tough Course
Marion senior Jayce Love delivered perhaps the most impressive performance of the day, covering the notoriously difficult 5,000-meter course in 15:27.99.
The course is not known for producing particularly fast times, making Love's performance even more impressive. He separated himself from the field and finished more than a minute ahead of runner-up Nicolas Repper-Molina of San Antonio Johnson, who crossed in 16:30.99.
Behind Love, Northside O'Connor took over.
Dylan Ambrosino finished third in 16:33.61, Hunter Cain was fourth in 16:36.88, and Quentin Riedl placed fifth in 16:40.08. With Silas Gonzalez ninth and Chris Esparza 10th, O'Connor placed all five scorers inside the top 10.
The result was a decisive team victory. O'Connor finished with just 24 points, well ahead of runner-up Smithson Valley's 104. San Marcos finished third with 131, followed by New Braunfels with 138 and Seguin with 144.
