This Week's Nominees:
Alessandra Longoria, Tomball Memorial (Texas): A 12:35.00 clocking over 2 miles was good for the win among 148 finishers at the Aldine ISD Larry Gnatzig Invitational, with 16.0 seconds separating first from second. The mark sits at No. 4 of 784 athletes in MileSplit's database at Lone Star North Harris since 2016, and stands as the fastest sophomore time recorded there among 289 sophomore athletes.
Andrea Colon, La Joya Palmview (Texas): Covering 2 miles in 13:09.50 at the 6th Annual Vickey Llanes La Maquina XC Invitational, she crossed first among 117 finishers and pulled away by 27.9 seconds. That time ranks No. 2 of 461 athletes in MileSplit's database at Carlos F Truan Jr High School since 2023, and No. 2 among 112 junior athletes on that same list.
Leah Depiper, Port Aransas (Texas): The Port Aransas Invitational win came in 11:58.00 for 2 miles, 37.9 seconds ahead of the next finisher in a field of 104. It's the fastest time in MileSplit's database at Port Aransas since 2019 among 766 athletes and among 160 junior athletes there, and it improves her own prior mark on this course by 36.5 seconds.
Madison Grigsby, Timpson (Texas): Winning the Elkhart Cross Country Invitational in 11:36.21 over 2 miles, she finished 39.0 seconds clear of the field of 92. The time stands as the fastest recorded in MileSplit's database at Elkhart High School since 2023 among 348 athletes, and the fastest among 93 junior athletes there as well.
Madisyn Scott, Leander Glenn (Texas): Winning by 39.8 seconds says plenty on its own, but the number that stands out from the Badger Invitational is 12:23.29 for the 2 Mile, good for first place out of 79 finishers. That clocking now sits at No. 3 of 738 athletes in MileSplit's database at 580 Sports Complex since 2022, and No. 2 among 177 sophomores to race there in that span.
