Quinlin McGregor: Highland Park.

Highland Park runner Quinlin McGregor has qualified for the USA Track and Field National Junior Olympic Championships thanks to a pair of victories at a West Texas Association meet in June in Odessa.

McGregor, who won a silver medal in the 1,600 meters and a bronze in the 3,200 at the UIL state meet in May, won the 800 and 1,500 at Ratliff Stadium.

The USATF meet is scheduled for July 23-29 at Morgan State University's Hughes Stadium in Baltimore. McGregor, who will be a senior next fall, said he'll run in the 1,500 but skip the 800.

"After the Odessa meet, I went to a national meet in Arlington and ran a 4:08 in the prelims of the 1,500," McGregor said. "I pulled back the last 100 meters so I could conserve some energy for the finals. That means I'll be ready for this next meet."

McGregor will be running in the Young Men's division.
