So, pole vaulters are some of the best athletes in track and field. Many of them even have second or third events.
Some of them, like Taylor senior and three time UIL 4A state champ pole vault champ Anna Cathryn Griffith performs very well in three additional events making it at least four events excluding relays that you might catch her hitting the track and the field for. By performing well, I mean state meet qualifying and medaling at the state meet type of performing well. Last year, breaking the 4A pole vault state record wasn't the only event on her mind as she went and placed second in the 300H in Austin.
El Paso Coronado senior Grant Levesque is the 2018 UIL 6A 3rd place finisher in the pole vault and he does way more than a handful of events. In fact, he does 10 events to be exact. Levesque is a decathlete and a darn good one. I mean like 6,351 point good! The young man not only goes over 16-6 in the pole vault, but he goes 11.00 (100m), 50.26 (400m), 14.27 (110H), 39.62 (300H) and that's just the tip of the iceberg.
Other than finding out how many different types of shoes and spikes these kids have to carry to the track meets, find out which pole vaulters are performing all over the track stadium on Fridays and Saturdays.
